Grizzly and the Grasshoppers, based in the south of England, features the gritty vocals and original music of front man, `Grizzly Rhys` Morgan (acoustic guitar, lap slide and lap steel guitars, Dobro, djembe, and harmonica); with Neil Shervell on drums, and bass guitarist, Matt Brace. The music is Roots and Blues at its foot-stomping best with a touch of Folk and a hint of Traditional Blues! Whether playing a dark and dirty tavern or a packed and muddy festival, they draw people in with their energy and original style. Grizzly`s lap-slide performances, and the drum-offs are particular crowd pleasers. Grizzly Rhys Morgan also performs as a solo act both at festivals and more intimate venues.
`…provided an adoring audience with big-hitting vocals to go along with those intricately weaved guitar techniques..` RAWRAMP, Ilfracombe Blues Festival Review
One sunny day this hairy band of music makers noticed that the grass was greener on the other side of the fence, and so decided to leave their mundane jobs in workshops and garages to take to the road and live the dream. After hundreds of gigs; thousands of miles on the road; and various changes to the line-up; Grizzly and the Grasshoppers has built up a dedicated following bringing its big stomping blues riffs to ale-houses, jail-houses, hay-barns and beach bars all over the UK.
Some of the highlights include: Weyfest, Labyrinth Roots & Blues, Rhythmtree, Boomtown, Henry`s Little Big Gig, Uckfield Blues Festival, Chilled in a Field, Swanage Blues Festival, Surf and Roots, Be Cider the Seaside, SouthCider Festival, Dorset Midsummer Fest, Wolverton Folk & Blues Fair, Guilfest, Acoustic Movement, Dark Holler, WonkyDonk, Ilfracombe Blues Festival, VDub at the Pub Fest (headline), StowFest, Cheese & Chilli Festivals, Guildford Beer Festival, Winchester Ale Festival, Eat Drink Bristol Festival, and Ashcroft Ale Festival, to name just a few.
The band released its first album, `Seeds` in 2013, followed by `Whiskey River` in 2015. Grizzly`s first solo album is due out in 2018, and work has begun on the next album with the full band.
